I gravitated to Geography
as an undergraduate at Villanova
University and went on to receive a MA in cartography at Temple University. Taking a break from school I
ended up on the small island of Saba in
the Caribbean as a Dive master (producing the first map of Saba's deep water pinnacles with
Michelle Claveau) and rainforest tour guide for 18 months before returning to academia. On Saba
I fell in love with coral reefs in particular and coasts in general. At the University
of Florida I continued my geographic education researching barrier island
beaches and the anthropomorphic changes that influenced the beach profile geomorphology. From
2001 to 2005 I was an Assistant Professor teaching Geographic Information Systems (GIS),
Oceanography, Geography Field Methods and Cartography classes at Baylor
University.

My research areas currently include Saba and Dominica, where I am assessing and monitoring beaches.
In 2005 I was on Saba for their annual Sea & Learn month of invited science experts (http://www.seaandlearn.org/Experts2005.htm). I am presently
working as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. Finally I am living near a beach again!!
